Flight Instructors
Dean Thomas developed Pacific Aerostar’s Training Syllabus over 15 years ago. He is a Graduate of San Jose State University with a B.S. in Aeronautics. He holds all flight and ground instructor ratings, Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, CFII / MEI and an A&P mechanic certificate with Inspection Authorization.
With over 44 years experience in the aviation industry, beginning as an Aerodynamic Flight Test Engineer with the Boeing Aircraft Company , Bush pilot-aircraft mechanic in Alaska, flight Instructor and charter pilot, Regional Airline Captain and currently a Major Airline Captain and Check Airman ( Retired ). With over 29,500 flight hours he holds Type Ratings on De-Havilland Dash-7, Boeing 727,737,757,767, 777 and 747 Transport aircraft.
Dean was Chief Pilot, FAA Check Pilot and Demo pilot for Bay Aerostar, an Aerostar Dealer associated with Ted Smith’s original Aerostar Factory in Santa Maria, Ca. He has over 1000 hours instructing in the Aerostar.
Kevin Brown is a Captain for a Major Airline ( Retired ) flying the MD-11. He holds a B.S. Degree from Pacific Union College. Kevin holds all flight & ground instructor ratings, Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, and CFII / MEI .
With over 40 years in the aviation industry, including flight instruction , F.A.R. 135 and 121 Airlines, and over 20,000 flight hours, he holds Type Ratings on the MD-11 , DC-10 and CASA 212 aircraft.
Kevin has over 10,000 hours as an Instructor Pilot in both Multi and Single Engine aircraft, including teaching for IASCO-Japan Airlines Flight Training Center in Napa , Ca.
